Frequesntly Asked Questions About Christians
If your a Christian, why do you play a game that may promote Killing (Americas Army)?
First of all, it's just a game. It isn't real. Second of all there are times when war is necessary. God has condoned, and even ordered wars for righteous causes. We are to defend the poor, the down trodden and the helpless. Sometimes this means standing up against evil men or regimes, such as Hitler's Germany or the evil Muslim terrorists of today or even Saddam Hussein. We are allowed to defend ourselves.
Why do bad things happen to good people?
The first thing that you have to recognize is that we live in a world that is under the effect of sin. There is evil in the world and because we live in the world we are bound to encounter it. You might ask "If God is good, then why does God allow these bad things?" The answer is that God has allowed us to have free will. God will not force Himself on anyone. He offers His peace, joy and salvation to any one who is willing to accept Him, but He will not force Himself.
Once we have the right perspective, we can easily understand many of the things of the world. Someone who does not know the truth about God might even wonder why God might allow a young, innocent child to die. From the world's view this is a bad thing because the child never got to experience life. From God's view, that child went staight to eternal life in joy and peace. He or she was spared the sometimes hard life here on earth in favor of a much better life with God.
What does it mean to be a Christian?
It means to acknowledge that Jesus is God, that he died to pay the penalty for my sins and that because of that I am saved and counted as a child of God. Jesus Himself said that "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." (John 5:24)
Who is Jesus?
He is the pre-existent creator of the universe. He is God in the flesh. He who came to deliver us from our sins. After He died, He rose again. He came back to life. He appeared to many people and on one occasion He even appeared to 500 people at once. The resurrection of Jesus is actually the most well attested fact of history. That is why during the time of His resurrection, no one was able to produce a corps to put and end to the claims. There was no corps because He came back to life. He visited and ate with people for 40 days after His death before returning to heaven.
Jesus fulfilled, in detail, prophecies about a messiah (savior) from the ancient Jewish scriptures that were written hundreds and even thousands of years before His birth. The science of statistical probability indicates that the chances of any one person fulfilling even a few of the prophecies are statistically impossible and yet Jesus fulfilled dozens of them in exact detail.
People say the Father,Son and Holy Spirit are as One. What does that mean?
It's very hard to comprehend, and we won't fully understand it until we go to heaven. But what is clear is that the one true God exists in a relationship between three distinct persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), fully united as one yet three distinct persons. Some people explain it in this way; we as human beings are body, mind and soul, yet one. This example is not bad, but is far from fully accurate as it does not explain the individuality of the three persons of the God head.
Is there proof that Jesus exist and how do I know he is real?
Jesus' existent is fully documented not only in the bible, but it secular history as well. Secular refers to any source outside of the bible. Ancient Roman historians and Jewish and roman legal and historical documents talk about Jesus' life death and even resurrection.
What is Prayer and why do Christians do it?
Prayer is a conversation with God. It consists of praise, worship, complaining and asking. It is how Christians "stay in touch" with God. God wants a relationship with His people, and that means YOU. Ask Him to make himself known to you. He wants to have a relationship with You. Seek Him and you will find Him. He loves you.
Can anyone Accept Jesus? If so How?
Yes. What is required is simply this. Acknowledge that you are a sinner. Your not perfect and that you've done things that are not pleasing to God. Let Him know that you want to be forgiven and that you want to live a new life. He will accept you. Jesus Himself said this: "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." (John 5:24) He also said that "God so loves the world" (That's you) "that he gave His only begotten son" (That's Jesus) "that who ever believes in Him will have eternal life" (John 3:16)
It's not complicated. You don't have to earn it. You have to sincerely recognize your faults (sins) and sincerely recognize Jesus as master, God and Savior. He'll help you. If we can lead you into a relationship with God, please let us know. If you have questions please ask. We would love to answer anything that you want to know.
